After checking out from the AC Hotel Paris Porte Maillot, I made my way over to Charles de Gaulle airport to catch my Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) flight over to Copenhagen. This would be my second time flying SAS Plus (soon to be renamed Premium Class), which is their “premium” European product. My first time was flying from Stockholm to London, and while it wasn’t up to my expectations, I decided to give it another chance.

Preflight

I had arrived at Charles de Gaulle airport early to take advantage of the lounges available, courtesy of my Star Alliance Gold status (SAS has since joined SkyTeam). Unfortunately, SAS uses Terminal 2B, which does not have a Star Alliance lounge or any lounge that SAS Plus passengers could use. This was a let down, considering that SAS Plus tickets come with lounge access, but the staff at Extime Lounge let us know that SAS had not opened a contract with them.

Seat & Cabin

As I’ve noted before, SAS’s “neo” fleet is fairly new, clean, and comfortable with all the expectations of a Nordic interior cabin. It is laid out in the traditional 3-3 configuration that you’d find in economy. However SAS Plus has the middle seat open for reservations. This means you could have someone sit in the middle seat on your intra-EU business class flight, although it seems to be relatively rare.

The legroom was good. For reference, I’m 6’1″, and still had a good amount of space, though not a ton.

Once the sun had set, the crew turned on the A320neo’s mood lighting, which definitely gave the cabin a different vibe

Dining & Beverages

No options were given for the meal service, just a question on whether we were going to dine on the flight or not. A meal box was provided with the drink service, and I opted to take the meal box.

Today’s selection was roast beef, with curry potato salad, horseradish cream, and pickled red onion.

The salad was chilled, and also came with grain crackers and a cutlery kit. I opted for a cup of coffee to accompany my meal.

Of course, for dessert, we received the traditional chocolate truffles. I also had another cup of coffee.

Gin and tonic is definitely an interesting flavor, while the cashew and almond praline is more traditional.

In-Flight Entertainment & Connectivity

SAS has wifi on board its aircraft, with access starting at 29 Danish krone, 39 Norwegian krone, 39 Swedish krone, 3,90 euros, or 800 EuroBonus points. This provides you with wifi access throughout the flight. If you are traveling in SAS Business or are a Gold or Diamond member, you can enjoy free surfing during the entire journey.

Final Verdict

Service on this flight was good, with the crew being attentive. The food was better than my first SAS Plus flight. This flight moved the needle for me personally on SAS Plus (soon to be SAS Premium), and gave me a better impression of the product.

Overall Rating: 7.25/10
