I have not been paid by any entity in any way (financially, benefits) to write this Four Points by Sheraton NYC Midtown review. Any airport, airline, lounge, hotel, and or loyalty program policies may have changed since then.
On a trip to go visit some friends up in New York City, I was looking to split up my stay among affordable Bonvoy hotels in the city. I ended up booking the Four Points by Sheraton NYC Midtown for the first portion of my stay, and I honestly was impressed for it being a Four Points by Sheraton in the U.S.

Overview
Built in 2009, this hotel features 244 rooms across 32 floors. Located directly across from the Port Authority bus station and 42nd St Subway, it is conveniently located near several transportation options. It’s also about a 10 minute walk from Bryant Park, so I’d say the location is solid. I’d classify this as a budget hotel, although the average prices in New York City really do away with that notion altogether.
Arrival & Check-In
The check-in process was a little slow as two front desk agents handled loads of folks checking out. I had arrived a little early thanks to my 6AM Amtrak from DC, so I was asked to wait until about noon for a room. Storing my bags with them was easy and simple, and the front desk staff was honestly so friendly and helpful, which honestly was the vibe of the entire hotel. After that, however, I was simply asked for my ID and credit card and was provided my keys. I was thanked for my loyalty and informed that I’d have complimentary breakfast throughout my stay, which was great!
Room & Features

For this stay, I stayed in room 2701. The floors are laid out in a small and tight configuration that is typical of NYC, with a handful of rooms on each floor.

Room 2701 was a king guest room. This room was somehow on the roomier side of what I was expecting since it is NYC. Immediately I saw that just about everything I needed was there.

Across from the bed is a desk area to work. Above that is a mounted TV, and to the left is a closet area.

In the closet, you’ll find a safe, mirror, ironing board, iron, hangers, and a coffee machine with the accompanying coffee and sugar. Under the desk you’ll find a mini-fridge, and at the edge you’ll find an ice bucket and water bottles.

The restroom is pretty standard, and has an unseen hair dryer as well.
Dining
The hotel has an on-site restaurant named Gotham Bistro and a bar named Sammy’s Bar.

Gotham Bistro is open for breakfast Monday through Friday, 6:30AM to 10:30AM and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00AM to 11:00AM. The breakfast is buffet style, and is pretty solid, exceeding my expectations.

They had several hot food options, and I was particularly impressed with the scrambled eggs because they weren’t the cheap mix stuff.

There were plenty of bread options as well.

They also had cold items, including fruit, yogurts, juices, etc.

They also had oatmeal, cereals, and waffle irons.
Amenities & Facilities
Amenities include a fitness center, business center. Unfortunately, since it was such a quick stay, I didn’t check these out.
Location & Accessibility
The Four Points by Sheraton NYC Midtown is next to NYC’s Port Authority bus station and 42nd St Subway station where you can catch the A, C, E or a bus. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Bryant Park and is in a decent location for walking around.
Final Verdict: Four Points by Sheraton NYC Midtown Review
My stay here was quick, painless, and basic. The staff was great and friendly in a quintessential New York way, and the hotel is in a great location. Unfortunately, like much of NYC, the prices can be pretty high for what you actually get, so this really depends on the eye of the beholder. This wouldn’t be the first hotel I try to book when looking at NYC Bonvoy properties, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if I had to choose this spot again. Not so great value for a budget hotel, but worth a shot if it works with your budget.
