Following my flight from Houston, I made my way over to the Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada to rest and was pleasantly surprised with my experience at what I assumed would be a barebones, no frills hotel.

Overview

Built in 2012, this hotel features 248 rooms across 19 floors. Located in the Teusaquillo area of Bogota, it’s centrally located while being just about equidistant to the attractions of the city. It shares building space with a Wyndham, but operate separately. Nearby are several local, state, and federal government buildings, as well as the U.S. embassy.

Arrival & Check-In

The check-in process at the Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada was straightforward. After having arrived on the complimentary shuttle from the Bogota El Dorado airport following my flight from Houston, I went up to the lobby on the second floor to check in. They asked for my passport and credit card, and quickly checked me in and informed me of the amenities and services available on the property.

Room & Features

Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada room 1122

My room for this stay was 1122, a king bed, premium guest room.

The room had everything I needed yet appeared pretty simple. I will say I appreciate a well lit room, and the lights here didn’t disappoint.

Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada room amenities

Readily available was a coffee machine with instant coffee, splenda, and other coffee and tea necessities. Additionally there was a complimentary bottle of water. If you need more, you can ring the front desk for some.

Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada laundry services

On the desk was a laundry services menu, which was reasonable.

Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada information

On the bedside table you could find an informative guide on everything regarding the hotel.

There was a closet space that had extra bedding, a safe, an iron, an ironing board, a luggage rack, and some hangars.

There was also a mini-fridge available in the room.

Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada restroom

The restroom was pretty simple, featuring a walk-in shower, toilet, and plenty of vanity space.

Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada restroom amenities

For amenities, they had lotion, a shower cap, and a soap bar. This was actually pretty skimpy for what I expect in Latin America.

Dining

The Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada has one restaurant on site. Here, you’ll find breakfast in the mornings, and it is open daily from 6:00AM to 10:00AM.

Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada breakfast

Since this is a Fairfield by Marriott, breakfast is complimentary to every guest at the hotel. What is unusual about this Fairfield is that the food is actually made fresh everyday.

This includes hot and cold foods, such as the incredible fruits Colombia is known for. You can also order made-to-order eggs and omelets. Service is incredible for a complimentary breakfast.

Amenities & Facilities

The Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada has several amenities available, which include the laundry services, the complimentary shuttle, and a partnership with a fantastic gym, the Spinning Center Gym Salitre.

The Spinning Center Salitre and Spa

Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada Spinning Center Salitre

The Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada is located in a small commercial that happens to have a Spinning Center location, which has an expansive gym. In the gym is a spa in the bottom level, where you can book a massage and other services.

I didn’t have a ton of time to check out the gym, but it was pretty big.

They had several different sections for weights, cardio, stretching, HIIT, and a swimming pool. Access to the gym is provided with your hotel key, which is verified at the front desk of the gym. Remember, this is a partnership with a membership gym, so you can’t just walk in.

Airport Shuttle

The Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada has a complimentary shuttle that will take you from El Dorado airport to the hotel and back. I’d just confirm with the hotel what times it operates.

Location & Accessibility

The Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada is located in the Teusaquillo neighborhood of Bogota. A fairly quiet area thanks to the large governmental presence, there are still several things to do in walking distance. I was in need of a jacket when I arrived, so I made the 15-minute walk over to the Gran Estacion Centro Comercial (Gran Estacion Mall). There are also several convenience stores, pharmacies, and restaurants in the area. To get around you can hop on the TransMilenio bus system, but since Uber is so cheap I ended up doing that.

On that point, I’d also note that while the hotel is removed from the attractions, it is equidistant from just about everything in the city thanks to its central location. So when you factor in traffic, you can assume that it’ll probably take about 20-30 minutes to get anywhere in the city by car.

Value & Redemption

At $75 USD a night with the standard rate, plus complimentary breakfast, I found this stay to be of fantastic value.

Final Verdict: Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada Review

The Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada is a fantastic option for the cost-conscious. It is counter-intuitively conveniently located in Bogota, and the rooms are modern and provide you with everything you need. The breakfast is fantastic and the service was great from top to bottom. I actually ended up staying here a few weeks later, and got an even better look at what this hotel has to offer. I’d easily recommend this hotel for anyone going to Bogota.

Overall Rating: 8.2/10
