With plenty of time before my flight out of Washington Dulles airport, I made my way to Terminal A, where some of the airport’s best (and only) Priority Pass lounges lie. Today, we face the elusive Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Washington Dulles, which had been closed for a while, but now it’s back and also taking Priority Pass.

The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Washington Dulles is a Priority Pass lounge in Concourse A, and definitely doesn’t show out for the plebs.

I accessed the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse IAD today through my Priority Pass membership, which I receive via my U.S.-issued American Express Platinum card.
Note: as a Priority Pass guest, you’re not allowed to enter more than three hours before your flight, you have a max stay of three hours, and access may be limited depending on capacity.
Atmosphere & Seating
The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse IAD is a fairly tame and plain lounge. Upon entering, the receptionist will check you in and verify your boarding pass and Priority Pass membership. There are two levels to the lounge, but I was not afforded access upstairs since it was Priority Pass hours.

One of the near things you notice right away is the floor to ceiling windows, giving you a fantastic view of the ramp! My aviation loving heart was filled with appreciation for this.

There was plenty of seating available, although I had arrived during non-peak hours. I did appreciate the variety in seats available,

There was plenty of seating with families, individuals, and groups in mind.

These seats by the window definitely had me in mind!

For folks looking to stretch out more, lounge chairs with leg rests were available.

Looking to dine? The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse IAD has tables over by the bar.

And for the folks that are on business, there are work stations to set up your laptop and type away.
Food & Beverage

Since the lounge was accepting Priority Pass, complimentary dining options were very limited. The lounge had egg salad sandwiches, chicken teriyaki, and turkey sandwiches available. These items were standing for a while, so they weren’t exactly fresh or tasty.

Smaller snacks were also available, including chips, pretzels, cookies, oranges, and apples. There is also a bar over by the dining area, but I forgot to snap a pic.
The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse IAD has numbers for every table, allowing you to order table-side service. My previous experience with the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse was at their now closed location in Newark, which had complimentary a la carte service. Here, under the Priority Pass hours, a la carte items could be purchased, but I imagine that’s not the case for invited guests.
Wi-Fi & Connectivity
Complimentary WiFi was available.
Cleanliness & Facilities
The lounge could’ve been kept cleaner, but previous patrons’ items weren’t cleared off immediately, standing for quite a while in an otherwise empty lounge.

There are also restrooms in the lounge, which were comfortable and clean.

Shower suites are also available for Priority Pass members, for a charge.
Amenities
No additional amenities were of note at the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse IAD.
Final Thoughts & Verdict: Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Washington Dulles Review
The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse IAD during Priority Pass hours beats being out in the terminal, but not by much. Seems like the lounge wants to remind you that you’re lucky to be allowed in, which I understand. I’d rather save the good stuff for paying Upper Class customers. Food and cleaning could be better, which dings the score for the lounge. That being said:
- Is it worth arriving early to visit this lounge? No. I’d arrive for a drink and snack before flying out if I have access, but not to actually spend more than an hour. If my flight was leaving out of the A gates, then sure I’d spend some time here, but I’d venture to say that the nearby Air France Lounge is better.
Overall Rating: 7.4/10
