Review: United Club Fly Houston

I have not been compensated in any way (financially or otherwise) to write this United Club Fly Houston review. Airport, airline, lounge, hotel, and loyalty program policies may have changed since the time of writing.

In November 2022, United launched United Club Fly, a grab-and-go concept offering prepackaged food, snacks, and nonalcoholic drinks for travelers who may not have enough time to find a spot and grab refreshments in a full-service United Club. While the first location opened in Denver, they have now expanded to Houston.

The United Club Fly Houston is technically a lounge, but it doesn’t aim to serve as an oasis; rather, it is a resource for travelers on the go.

Access Policy

It is worth noting that, as of now, the United Club Fly Houston is the only lounge option available in Terminal B. This means that, although it is intended to be a grab-and-go location, it can become crowded during peak flight times in the terminal.

Atmosphere & Seating

Upon arriving, you will be required to scan your boarding pass at some electronic entry gates. Depending on your MileagePlus status or your United Club membership tier, you will be asked if you are entering with any guests. Once you verify, you’ll be allowed in, and will be greeted by very warm staff behind the coffee bar.

You’ll immediately notice a few things. For starters, there is absolutely no seating anywhere, keeping in line with that grab-and-go concept. Second, you’ll see that the lounge is very minimalist, which keeps it feeling clean, if not a little sterile.

There is a counter space where people can set their things down to grab a quick bite or finish a drink.

Or this high-top counter, where you can stand and work. There are also outlets to help you stay charged.

Food & Beverage

To the left, there is a self-serve coffee station where you can get regular or decaf Illy coffee on drip. There is also hot water for making tea, as well as a water faucet that dispenses cold or carbonated water.

At the back of the lounge, you’ll find some refrigerators where you can collect cold soft drinks or food items. For items that are meant to be served warm, such as a pretzel, you can ask the baristas to warm it up. Additionally, the baristas can make a variety of coffee and non-coffee drinks, which are better than expected! One thing you won’t find at any of the United Club Fly locations is alcohol.

Wi-Fi & Connectivity

Complimentary Wi-Fi was available, and worked well.

Cleanliness & Facilities

The lounge was clean the entire time I was there. There’s not much of an opportunity to make a mess unless you spill something. Additionally, there are no restrooms in the lounge. Restrooms can be found out in the terminal area.

Amenities

The United Club Fly does not offer additional amenities. No showers, no dedicated work areas. What you see is what you get!

Verdict: United Club Fly Houston Review

The United Club Fly Houston is the best (and only) lounge option United offers in Terminal B. As construction is ongoing in the terminal, it’s a great spot to grab a quick coffee and sandwich while you’re on the go. While it won’t offer you much comfort, it offers you the basics you need from a lounge.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10
