After checking out of the Sheraton Maria Isabel, I wrapped up my time in Mexico City and got myself over to Benito Juarez International Airport. For those that don’t remember, there are two airports serving Mexico City, and this is the flagship (read: older) airport. I made sure to head over with plenty of time to check out some of the lounges at the airport.

Access Policy

I accessed the lounge today through my U.S.-issued American Express Platinum card.

Atmosphere & Seating

The VIPort Lounge Felipe Angeles International .

Upon entering, the receptionist will check you in and verify your credit card, boarding pass, and ID. I then entered and checked out the comfortable yet small space.

There was plenty of seating available, although it was a morning flight so I can imagine that the crowds just hadn’t arrived yet. There was plenty of individual and group seating, and really felt private given the smaller size of this lounge.

Table seating was available near the bar as well.

Food & Beverage

The American Express Centurion Lounge Mexico City has a nice bar area with a TV to watch sports and entertainment, and a variety of different liquors and drink options.

There is also an à la carte menu with traditional Mexican breakfast options. Although there are prices, I didn’t have to pay. Certain Amex cardholders are required to pay, such as Aeromexico Amex Platinum cardholders.

I had a fruit bowl with a pastry and a latte. Great stuff!

Wi-Fi & Connectivity

Complimentary WiFi was available via a passcode that is issued upon entering.

Cleanliness & Facilities

The lounge was overall kept tidy and clean.

There are also restrooms in the lounge, which were comfortable and clean.

Amenities

Unlike one of the other Centurion Lounges at MEX, this one was pretty limited in amenities.

Final Thoughts & Verdict: American Express Centurion Lounge Mexico City Review

The international American Express Centurion Lounge in Mexico City’s Terminal 1 is a solid spot to chill before hopping on your next flight. Like my description of the VIPort Lounge at NLU, my best description for this lounge is “small but mighty.” That being said:

Overall Rating: 9/10
