I have not been paid by any entity in any way (financially, benefits) to write this Sheraton Maria Isabel Mexico City review. Any airport, airline, lounge, hotel, and or loyalty program policies may have changed since then.
Following my brief stay at the City Express Mexico City EBC Reforma hotel, I made my way over to the Sheraton Maria Isabel Mexico City, where I’d be spending the rest of my time while visiting CDMX. I consider this to be a premium-tier hotel, not luxury but definitely not budget.

Overview
Built in 1962, the Sheraton Maria Isabel is a historic business hotel in Mexico City. Formerly the largest hotel in Latin America, the hotel features 756 rooms across 22 floors. Located on the Paseo de la Reforma avenue of Mexico City, it is located in a central and historic part of the city, right by the iconic Angel of Independence.

Arrival & Check-In
The check-in process at the Sheraton Maria Isabel Mexico City Reforma was great. I waited in line at the front desk, and once they started to process my information, they directed me to the Sheraton Club to be processed by the club agent.

Once I got to the club, the agent asked for my passport and credit card, and quickly checked me in and informed me of the amenities and services available on the property. They also let me know that I had been upgraded from a twin bed room to a junior suite!
Room & Features

My room for the stay was 940.
Living Room

Upon entering, you’ll notice that the suite has two distinct areas, a living room space and a bedroom area. The first area you encounter is the living room, which has a (dated) pullout sofa and lounge chair with a Bose speaker and flat screen TV.
Restroom

On the way to the bed, you’ll find a small but functional restroom. It has a walk-in shower but no counter space, so you’ll need to find a good balance for toiletries. Unfortunately, the water pressure was pretty bad, which is one of the fatal flaws.

Speaking of toiletries, you can find just about everything you might need, including a dental kit, shaving kit, vanity kit, soap, and a shower cap.
Bedroom

At the end of the room, you’ll find the bed, which is flanked by two side tables with lamps. In the corner, you’ll find a reading chair with a side table, and across from the bed is a desk to work at. Additionally, there’s a second TV.

In the closet, you’ll find a safe, an iron and ironing board, a laundry menu, a hair dryer, and hangers.

There is also a Nespresso machine and accompanying sugars and cream.

After my first stroll out of the hotel, I found a complimentary tequila shot with accompanying snacks at my desk, which is a nice welcoming gift!

And of course, here is the view from the suite! In the center left, you can see the historic Angel of Independence!
Amenities & Facilities
The Sheraton Maria Isabel Mexico City Reforma has several amenities on offer, which you can determine based on the floor directories. There are two towers, one named the Danubio Tower:

And the Reforma Tower:

Sheraton Club
The Sheraton has a lovely executive lounge on the 18th floor of the hotel, where I was checked in. I consider this to be the crown jewel of the hotel, in addition to its location.

I had access to this space thanks to my Marriott Bonvoy Titanium status.

The lounge is open daily from 6:30AM to 10:00PM.

The lounge is spacious with plenty of seating.

And excellent views of the city.
Breakfast is served from 6:30AM to 11AM. There is a wide array of items, including scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, specialty dishes, chilaquiles, hash browns, etc. For cold items, they’ve got yogurt, muesli, cottage cheese, and cold cuts. There’s also a selection of pastries and other breakfast items.

The lounge also has table service, as lounge attendants bring over items you may request, such as coffee, water, and juice. They also have a made-to-order egg menu that really make this into one of the most comprehensive breakfast spreads I’ve seen at a “mid-tier” hotel in the Marriott Bonvoy network.
Hors d’oeuvres is offered from 5:30PM to 7:30PM. They had several small dishes and larger hot dishes that could substitute for dinner. There’s also complimentary wine and beer, and perhaps even liquor, but I didn’t ask. Best part? Unlimited guac!

Throughout the day, you can grab snacks and soft drinks from the fridge.

The lounge also has restrooms, but they can get pretty busy in the mornings.
Business Center
A business center is located on the lobby level of the Sheraton Maria Isabel, for those that need a dedicated area to work.

Spa
Zenia Spa is located at the Sheraton Maria Isabel Mexico City, although it is not the hotel’s spa, simply a business that rents out space at the hotel. It is a lovely business that has excellent massages, I highly recommend getting a treatment if you’ve got time.
Fitness Center

The Sheraton Maria Isabel Mexico City Reforma has a fitness center on site, where you can work out on a variety of different weight and cardio machines.
Additionally, there’s a tennis court on the fifth floor. Be warned: you will take some weird hallways to get there, but its possible!
There is also a pool on the top floor, but unfortunately I went to check it out too late.

Additional Amenities

The Sheraton Maria Isabel Mexico City also has additional amenities and shops on site, including this beauty parlor.

And a medical center. There are other shops and locales here at the hotel, which was neat to see. It reminds me of the Sheraton Grand Panama City, which also had shops on the lower floors of the hotel.
Dining
The Sheraton has one main restaurant, two bars, and a cafe on-site. The restaurant is named Amici, an Italian restaurant that is open from 6:30 AM-12:00 PM for breakfast, 12:30 PM-5:30 PM for lunch and supper, and 6:00 PM-11:00 PM for dinner; I didn’t visit the restaurant since I had access to the Sheraton Club.
There is also the Lobby Bar, open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM-1:00 AM and Saturday to Sunday from 3:00 PM-11:30 PM. The Jorongo Bar is a more festive cocktail bar that caters to tourists, featuring mariachi performances, and is open Thursday to Saturday from 8:00 PM-3:00 AM.
Location & Accessibility
Much like Le Meridien Mexico City Reforma and City Express EBC Reforma, the Sheraton Maria Isabel is located on Paseo de la Reforma, one of the city’s most important avenues, near historic sites like the Angel of Independence and Chapultepec Park. As you’ll remember from earlier, I had a view of the Angel from my suite!

This is also an important economic and political district of Mexico City, within walking distance of financial institutions and government buildings.
Final Verdict: Sheraton Maria Isabel Mexico City Review
The Sheraton Maria Isabel Mexico City is a fantastic Bonvoy option. Although I do believe the rooms could benefit from a facelift, the overall hotel is very strong in what it offers. To me, the Sheraton Club lounge goes a long way as a benefit because I enjoy grabbing a quick breakfast and getting my day started. Additionally, with the complimentary snacks and refreshments available, it really helps save time and money.
The value this hotel offers is also great. It doesn’t break the bank (like the nearby Ritz-Carlton or St. Regis), and although I imagine it is likely not as nice as the JW Marriott Santa Fe (which is 40 minutes away), the Sheraton Maria Isabel’s location can’t be beat and the service is top-notch.
