I have not been paid by any entity in any way (financially, benefits) to write this Air France A220 Economy review. Any airport, airline, lounge, hotel, and loyalty program policies may have changed since then.

After going through a full roster of lounges in Heathrow’s Terminal 4, which included the Saudia Lounge, the Blush Lounge, the Plaza Premium Lounge, and the Gulf Air Falcon Gold Lounge, it was time to board my flight to Paris.

I ended up booking this flight last minute, but wasn’t upset at all about the experience!

Preflight

After my little lounge escapade, I made my way to my Air France flight across the channel to Paris.

The boarding process was seamless, as I boarded with the Sky Priority folks in Zone 2 thanks to my Vietnam Airlines Platinum Status.

Air France Airbus A220 disinfectant wipe

Upon boarding we were offered disinfectant wipes, which is always a nice touch.

Air France A220 technical issue

Right after we started our taxi, the pilots got warnings regarding an issue with an emergency exit seal. Natuarlly, we were shunted to a parking stand near Terminal 4 so the contracted mechanics could resolve the problem (they couldn’t). After some more waiting, they had to call in the cavalry, rival Swiss techs to fix it!

Seat & Cabin

The cabin features a 2-3 configuration, offering a modern design with LED lighting and sleek seats.

Today’s seat was 11A, a window seat located on the left side of the plane.

Seat pitch is approximately 30 inches, so that means it’s tight.

Air France Airbus A220 legroom

For reference, I’m 6’1″, and my knees were touching the seat in front basically the entire flight.

Dining & Beverages

Once in the air, refreshments were passed out. What I was shocked to see on such a short flight was a complimentary snack offered.

The complimentary snack was a vegetable sandwich, and I ordered a Coke for my drink.

In-Flight Entertainment & Connectivity

Air France offers in-flight WiFi and entertainment onboard. They had three different tiers of WiFi available, which included a free messaging option, a €7 surfing option, and an €18 streaming option. That’s on top of the free entertainment suite you can access.

No in-flight screens were offered on this A220 aircraft.

Final Verdict: Air France A220 Economy Review

On this short hop across the English Channel, Air France wowed in some ways and really let me down in one specific category. The pluses included the disinfectant wipe, the relatively new aircraft, and a legitimate snack! My main gripe has to do with that legroom. I mean, that felt criminal, and it was only an hour flight. I can’t imagine sitting through that on anything longer.
