The Swiss Senator Lounge in Zurich is one of the airline’s flagship lounges serving passengers flying on long-haul Swiss and Star Alliance partners. Next door is the Swiss Business Lounge for passengers flying business class on Swiss or a Star Alliance partner. This lounge also features the Whiskey 28/10 facility and a panoramic view of the ramp, giving you unparalleled views of the activity at Zurich airport.

Access

At the E Gates, Swiss operates both a Business Lounge and Senator Lounge for their Miles & More frequent flyers and Star Alliance partners. The Swiss Business Lounge is accessible by passengers flying in business class on Swiss or a Star Alliance partner, while the Swiss Senator Lounge is accessible by a Miles & More Senator status holder or Star Alliance Gold. Today I was able to access the Senator Lounge thanks to my Star Alliance Gold status with United. Without this status, I would’ve been allowed into the Business Lounge, thanks to my United Polaris flight to Washington.

The lounge is a relaxing and quiet retreat from the busy terminal. We arrived in the morning and got there while they were transitioning from breakfast to lunch.

They also had a wide array of drinks on offer. However, the food wasn’t quite extensive.

They had a section with warm foods and another with cold options. A self-serve coffee bar section was also available.

The lounge has extensive seating and plenty of space.

At no point was the lounge too busy, but perhaps this changes for the afternoon flights.

There was also a communal table and dining tables available. This excludes the seating available outside on the terrace.

Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures of the outdoor seating, but it does have incredible views of the ramp.

There are also semi-private desk spaces for those who need to get some work done during their time there.

A lamp and plugs are provided, however I’d say it can be quite dim if you’re writing anything.

There is also a rest area at the end of the lounge for travelers looking to lay back and relax on a semi-private daybed.

Each lounger has a desk and space to store your luggage.

They also have a suite of plugs and USB ports to charge your devices while lounging.

There’s also a row of daybeds facing the ramp, giving you some views, largely obstructed by the terrace.

The restrooms were very clean and seemed to be well-maintained.

There were several private restroom stalls.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to experience the Whiskey 28/10, a whiskey bar in the lounge that is named after the runway numbers at Zurich’s airport.

It was too early in the day for it to be open,

It is a tastefully adorned bar with an excellent design that presents itself nicely. I’ll have to try it next time I fly through Zurich!
