I have not been paid by any entity in any way (financially, benefits) to write the following post. Any airline, lounge, and/or loyalty program policies may have changed since then.
Airline: American Airlines
Flight: 2764
Aircraft: Airbus A321
Registration: N540UW
Route: Dallas (DFW) – Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
After connecting in Dallas I headed out to Terminal A to catch my flight to Chicago. Thankfully, I was still able to get some dinner in the form of a yogurt parfait and a sandwich for the flight.

I made my way to the gate, which was pretty packed. I was surprised to see so many people going to Chicago on this late night flight, but thankfully the plane wasn’t crowded. This was great for me as a Basic Economy flyer, since I was in boarding group 9, the very last group.

With American’s Basic Economy fare, you can’t select a seat in advanced without paying. Knowing this was the longest flight, I bit on the fare and purchased an Exit Row window seat to ensure I had space to stretch out. Finally Group 9 was called, and I boarded the flight, settling into my seat.

Fortunately for me, I had the entire exit row to myself for the flight, meaning I had extra space in addition to the insane amount of space I had in front of me!

As soon as the boarding door closed, the safety demo was presented, we taxiied out to the runway, and we were quickly on our way on our late night flight to the Windy City.
After taking to the skies, I purchased wifi to stay connected throughout the flight, and continued working on my review of United’s Arrivals Lounge in San Francisco, which you can read about here.

As we approached the Midwestern states of Iowa and Illinois, our excellent flight crew was avoiding a weather system that had just hit Iowa and Illinois. Throughout our descent we hit some bumps, but thankfully nothing too wild.

Our approach route flew us right over Willis Tower, which I was barely able to get a picture of, and a very blurry at that.

We finally got on that final approach path, and glided in Chicago O’Hare, ending the day’s travels. Stay tuned, next up will be my first review on Delta Shuttle and their first class product from Chicago to New York-LaGuardia!
(No landing :/ Apologies!)
Verdict
It was a fairly comfortable flight! I paid the least amount to have a carry-on and a personal item, while paying a few dollars more to have an exit row seat from Dallas to Chicago with no seat in front of me. I mean, you just can’t beat that! I was happy for the day to be over once I got to Chicago and turned in for the night at the Four Points O’Hare.
