After taking the complimentary shuttle from the Fairfield by Marriott Bogota Embajada, and in anticipation of my Avianca flight from Bogota to Washington Dulles, I made my way to the Avianca VIP Lounge Bogota to grab a bite, check out the facilities, and see one of the several lounge options I had at El Dorado airport.

Today, I accessed the lounge through Star Alliance Gold, thanks to my United MileagePlus Premier 1K status.
Atmosphere & Seating

Upon entering the lounge area on the second level, you are directed to the appropriate lounge, either the Avianca VIP Lounge Gold or the more exclusive Diamond (Diamante) lounge, depending on your eligibility. Today I was eligible for the Gold lounge.

The lounge is fairly spacious, with plenty of seating available when I arrived. There’s a main seating area by the food station.

A TV seating area with two TVs.

And a more work-oriented seating area toward the back of the lounge.

There was also a business center and work area that is sponsored by Samsung.
Food & Beverage

The Avianca VIP Lounge Gold Bogota has a decently extensive, albeit not very good food spread. They had several cold options available for salads.

There were also cold cuts and other salad ingredients.

Over by the hot food, you can find sandwiches, wraps, and blackberry pana cotta.

Additionally, they had some breads, jams and butter.

Now the hot food situation is interesting at the Avianca VIP Lounge Gold Bogota. To get the main dishes, you have to ask an attendant to serve it for you. Today I had chicken and white rice.

The self-serve hot food included pasta, a pork dish, a nachos station, and some mini hotdogs.

Right by the food station was a drink station, where you could get soft drinks and infused waters.

Additionally, there was a fruit juice station, which makes a ton of sense for a nation known for their incredible fruits.

Over by the TV area there was also a coffee station with additional soft drinks and a water dispenser. If you’re looking for an alcoholic drink, you can ask the staff on the other side of the hot food bar, and they’ll help you out.
Wi-Fi & Connectivity
Complimentary WiFi was available and worked well.
Cleanliness & Facilities
The lounge was overall kept tidy and clean.
Amenities
The Avianca VIP Lounge Gold Bogota offers showers.

I didn’t get a chance to check out these showers, but to reserve it you have to ask the front desk.
Final Thoughts & Verdict: Avianca VIP Lounge Gold Bogota Review
The Avianca VIP Lounge Gold Bogota is one of the largest lounges at Bogota El Dorado airport, serving Avianca and Star Alliance Gold passengers. It really isn’t anything special about this lounge; the food is subpar, but on the flip side there is plenty of seating to accommodate guests. That being said:
- Is it worth arriving early to visit this lounge? No. There’s nothing that warrants you arriving early to use this lounge unless you need to finish some work.
- What sets it apart? The space and seating options? Other than that, there’s nothing quite special about this lounge.
Overall Rating: 8/10
