After nearly breaking my foot about an hour prior to departure, I was honestly surprised to have been sitting in seat 4A, waiting for our massive B777-200ER to pushback and ferry us to Houston, where I would finally be just an hour flight away from home.
Airline: United Airlines
Flight No: UA 598
Aircraft: B777-200ER
Registration: N37018
Seat: 4A
Route: Newark – Houston (IAH)
Class of Service: Domestic First Class

So about 2 hours before departure, I decided to roll my ankle going down the steps at the MTA station near Lexington. After definitely popping a ligament or something, I limped my way through Penn Station, hopping as fast as I could towards the next train going to Newark Liberty Airport. Getting there about 20 minutes before boarding time, you could understand my panic.
I had chosen this specific flight to Houston since it was on a 777, giving me a chance to fly on this long-haul jet. After limping my way through Terminal C, I finally got to the gate about five minutes before boarding started. I was surprisingly upgraded to First Class, so this ended up being my seat for the hop to Houston.

After everyone had boarded and settled in, the airplane doors closed, and the plane was pushed back, exposing a beautiful B787 that was hiding behind our gate! Just look at those curves! 😉

I even got a good look at a pod of United aircraft lounging around on the tarmac, soaking up the New Jersey sun like a bunch of fellas deciding the next bar to hit up.

We taxied out of the ramp area onto a taxiway, and waited for 5 minutes, which turned into 10 minutes, which turned into a joyous ground stop due to weather south of the airport. This gave me a chance to admire an American B737-800ER, which made me realize that I don’t hate their new livery as much as I thought I did.
Beautiful American B737-800 Weather that caused the ground stop. South of PHILLY.
The captain finally started the engines up again after what seemed to be an eternity, and rolled us out to the runway to get away from this cluster***k of an airport.
Once in flight, I elevated my foot with the footrest, taking in the sights of the sky and enjoying the peacefulness of the cabin.

Everyone’s favorite moment finally arrived: mealtime. Now by no means is United’s catering anywhere near the level of Turkish Airlines or other foreign airlines, but its food nonetheless, and I was eager to see what they had in store for us.

They of course started us all off with the traditional nuts along with our drink order, and we were given an option of tandoori chicken, or some cold option (maybe a salad?) I opted for the tandoori chicken, and although it looks (very) messy, it was tasty enough!

After the dinner service, I took a look outside the window and took the time to just admire the beauty of the clouds.

Finally the sun caught up, and was setting on the skies above Texas, giving way for a very orange arrival into the Lone Star State.

We finally lined up, and landed at Houston Intercontinental Airport.
Verdict
Flying domestic first class with United is always a nice experience. The food was edible, the flight attendants were friendly, and the flight was comfortable thanks to the beautiful Continental B777-200ER. All in all, it was a fine flight.
