I have not been paid by any entity in any way (financially, benefits) to write this Westin LAX review. Any airport, airline, lounge, hotel, and or loyalty program policies may have changed since then.
After landing late from Houston, I made my way to the Westin LAX. Not knowing what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel’s amenities and quality, and I’m glad I selected it for this short stay.

Overview
Built in 1986 and recently renovated, this hotel features 747 rooms across 11 floors. Located a mile away from LAX, it is a large and convenient airport hotel.

Arrival & Check-In
The check-in process at the the Westin LAX was straightforward but a little long, just because they had two staff checking in the folks that had just arrived from LAX, and one guest was quite upset that the airplanes were so loud at this airport hotel.
I made my way to the front desk and provided my ID and credit card for my stay, and as always, asked if a complimentary upgrade was available. I’ve noticed that the usual answer I receive is “yes, we’ve upgraded you to a club room,” which might mean the room is a little nicer, but rarely is there a difference.
There was plenty of seating throughout the lobby area of the hotel, and I enjoyed the vibe that the hotel presented.
Room & Features
My stay for the night was in room 1209, a king guest room. This hotel was recently refurbished, so it had very modern and tasteful decor.
The room had fantastic lighting, highlighted by the impressive backlight that was attached to the headrest of the bed. In the room was also a built-in luggage rack, a large TV, a desk work area, and a loveseat sofa.
There was also a complimentary coffee and tea station, which featured a mini fridge underneath. Here you could find additional cups and an ice bucket.
In the closet you could find an ironing board, an iron, a laundry bag with accompanying prices, and a wall-mounted safe.
The safe was spacious enough, as you can see here.
The restroom was pretty standard, with great lighting and a walk-in shower.
Dining
The Westin LAX features the Zen & Tonic Café and Daily Grill restaurant. The Daily Grill is where you can grab breakfast, and is open from 6:30AM to 10:00PM from Monday to Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, it is open from 6:30AM to 12:00AM.
The Zen & Tonic Café is open for breakfast service from 6:00PM to 11:00AM everyday, and the “Lounge” is open for drinks from 4:00PM to 12:00AM Monday to Thursday and Sundays. On Fridays and Saturdays, it is open from 4:00PM until 1:00AM.
As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium member, I had access to the Westin Club, so I didn’t use either the Grill or Café during my stay.
Amenities & Facilities
The Westin LAX has a variety of neat amenities available on site.
The Westin LAX Fitness Center
They featured a fitness center with plenty of cardio machines, some weight machines, and other equipment.
Complimentary towels were provided.
Outdoor Pool
The Westin LAX also provides an outdoor pool with lounge chairs. Unfortunately the weather was pretty dreary when I took the pictures, but I can imagine this being nice on a sunny day.
Complimentary pools were also provided for the pool-goers.
The Westin Club
The Westin Club is located on the ground floor of the hotel, and is open daily from 5:00M until 11:00PM, with breakfast being served from 6:30AM until 10:00AM. From Sunday to Thursday, evening appetizers are available from 5:30PM until 7:30PM, and if you’re interested in desserts, that’s available from 7:30PM until 10:00PM. Grab and go snacks are offered from 11:00AM until 11:00PM.
There are plenty of seating options throughout the lounge.
There are comfortable seats, sofas, and chairs. Some TVs were also available. Additionally, a dining area exists to the right side of the lounge, with more traditional dining tables.
I’m not aware of many Westin hotels having a lounge, so I was surprised to learn that this one did.
I only managed to get breakfast, and they had a solid spread out.
This included fruits, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, yogurt, etc.
Additionally there were pastries available.
And of course, a coffee and tea station, with other Pepsi-branded soft drinks available.
Other Amenities
Some of the amenities I didn’t manage to snap a pic of included the laundry area for guests and the complimentary airport shuttle. What I did manage to get a shot of was the complimentary microwave and ice machine.
There was a sign to make sure you didn’t miss it!
Additionally, there was a lovely gift shop.
And a Topgolf, which guests could use. I wasn’t quite clear on how that relationship worked, but I would definitely inquire next time I swing by.
Very cool perk at a hotel though!
The Westin LAX also had a market right next to the front desk where you could buy some items.
And last but not least, they also had a wellness library area where you could relax.
Location & Accessibility
Located near LAX Airport, the Westin LAX is convenient for travelers with layovers, but not ideal for those seeking to explore Los Angeles. It’s quite a hike over to the city, which can add up if you’re using rideshare apps. If you’re renting a car, this is more manageable, but still not ideal.
Value & Redemption
At $183 a night with the AAA rate, plus complimentary lounge access thanks to my Titanium status, I found this stay to be of decent value, but not fantastic.
Final Verdict: The Westin LAX Review
The Westin LAX really impressed me on this short one-night stay. The renovated room, the amenities, and the spaces all felt very premium, especially for an airport hotel. I’d stay here again without a second thought if given the chance, give it’s proximity to LAX and the lovely Westin Club.
Overall Rating: 8.4/10
