For the first time ever, I finally had the opportunity to fly Brussels Airlines! Flying from Copenhagen to Brussels in economy, this was the first leg of the journey back to Washington, DC. Today’s morning flight was on an Airbus A319, which was average at best. Take a look at my Brussels Airlines Economy Class review.

Preflight

Copenhagen Kastrup Airport is such a fascinating place because of how inefficient its security system seems to be. For a country that has figured out just about everything else regarding efficiency, their airport security queueing system seems to really set them back. Despite getting to the airport with time, it all vanished with the security line, and there was ultimately not enough time to enjoy the SAS Lounge.

Without options, I chose to snap some pics of the planes loitering around the terminal.

Brussels Airlines Economy Class Seat & Cabin

Brussels Airlines Economy Class Recaro seats A319

Economy class features Recaro slimline seats, laid out in a 3-3 configuration. Today, I had seat 15E, which is a middle seat.

Brussels Airlines A319 Economy Class legroom

The seats are pretty tight, with limited legroom. For a short hop, this is fine, but I wouldn’t want to be in this seat for more than two hours. Personally, I felt like the cabin was pretty tired, looking like it needs an update. With that being said, it was clean and fine for this flight.

Dining & Beverages

Like many of Brussels’ siblings in the Lufthansa Group, they have a buy on board program, known as Brussels Bistro, where you can purchase drinks and snacks. On today’s morning flight, I opted to get a cup of coffee.

Cup of Rombouts coffee on Brussels Airlines short-haul flight

Rombouts coffee is served on Brussels Airlines flights, and the roast was actually quite good. I was very pleasantly surprised! Definitely made it feel like it was worth my money (it wasn’t, but it made me feel better about my choices). For those interested in what the Bistro on Board menu offers, you can take a look here:

Service & Crew

Service was quick and basic, no frills. Crew was kind, but on such a short flight there wasn’t much expected.

Entertainment

There was no wifi available on this flight, and no entertainment either. Really takes the no-frills up to the next level!

Brussels Airlines Economy Class Final Verdict

Service on this flight was fine, if not non-existent. Coffee was great though! It is a brand I am going to be looking to buy personally in the near future.

With that in mind:

  • Was it worth the cost? This was a connecting flight for my long-haul flight back to Washington. I’m not sure how much this flight would’ve been on its own, but I would be weary of overpaying.
  • What are better/worse options? There have to be better options. This was essentially a low-cost carrier flight mascerading as a full-service airline.

Overall Rating: 6/10
