While American Airlines AAdvantage members DO NOT earn miles on Basic Economy tickets, you can still earn miles on another program, like Finnair’s Plus program or British Airways’ Executive Club program, which has the option of creating a “household” account, which allows you and your friends and/or family contribute to the account that you all can use.
